Color Control Instruments
In today’s world color consistency is an important criterion in the purchasing decision. To keep a competitive edge color must be delivered right the first time and always consistent.

Color control in the lab and at the line will save you money by guaranteeing a quick reaction time, early trend recognition, and no rejects.

Select the right instrument based on your application.

If you need to make sure parts from different batches fit together, the 45/0 geometry will give you the right answer. The measurement results will be influenced by changes in color as well as surface appearance, such as gloss or structure.

In our example you will get a difference between the two structured sides:

delta.gif (882 bytes)E* = 3

Color consistency of the final product can be guaranteed only if the raw materials used (resins – pigments – pellets) stay within your color specifi-cations. The sphere spin geometry will only detect color changes regard-less of gloss or structure variations.

In our example you will get no difference between the two structured sides:

delta.gif (882 bytes)E* = 0

The sphere spex geometry is only recommended for high gloss, highly structured samples.

Complete Appearance Control
In order to get a complete picture of the appearance it is best to measure color and gloss.

BYK-Gardner offers the complete line of color and gloss instruments – portable and benchtop for your application.

auto-QC can be easily configured to display as much or as little information as you like. Simultaneous color and haze results on onescreen give a complete picture for analyzing transparent products.

The large transmission compartment allows convenient sample placement for transparent specimens like films, foils and liquids – even expandable by taking off the side plates.

auto-QC, universal color control software

  • Customized screen layouts for ease of operation
  • Pass/Fail analysis with auto-tolerancing
  • Powerful built-in Access™ database for easy file management
  • Trend analysis with SPC control charts

Pass/fail was never easier: auto-QC automatically calculates tolerances based on measured production trials – best agreement with your visual assessment.

SPC charts with upper/lower limits allow the user to recognize color deviations and trends early – for any index and color scale.
