Static Eliminating Bars click on image for larger view General Information – All Bars Bars and cable lengths are specified in millimeters, 1in=25.4mm. Mounting hardware and instructions are included. Emitters (the ionizing points) are made of durable stainless steel. All static eliminators, including bars, must be grounded for effectiveness and safety. Static bars are ordered by Effective Length (EL): 1. EL is the length of the bar which ionizes (eliminates static). 2. EL should be equal to or greater than the area to be neutralized. 3. Overall Length (OL) is the length required for mounting the bar. OL is greater than or equal to EL. If mounting in confined spaces, remember to allow about 8cm (3in) for the cable entrance to the bar. Static Eliminating Bars are the traditional solution to industrial static elimination. First developed and patented in 1904 by William Chapman, electrically driven anti-static technology has proven its worth over the years. Bar technology has steadily improved. Bars work well in applications where surfaces are flat, such as printing, graphic arts, converting, film-handling, foils, non-woven materials and textiles. For non-flat surfaces, air manifolds are available to extend effectiveness. In general, electrically “hot” bars are the most effective static solution. Because hot bars can give an uncomfortable shock, shockless bars are used in applications where physical contact with the bar is possible. click on image for larger view
