Model 1820A Helium Detector is used to detect even the most difficult-to-find leaks in direct buried pressurized telephone cables, underground ducted cables, splice cases, and pressurized air pipe systems.
The Model 1820A has enhanced sensitivity for helium that allows it to pinpoint the smallest leaks before a cable becomes endangered. Easy to operate, the instrument draws in a single sample, analyzes it, and displays the percentage of helium found. The automatic sampling sequence requires only 20 seconds to display the results.
Why Helium? Helium is an ideal tracer gas because it is the lightest inert gas and rises quickly to the surface. In a pressurized system, helium will quickly find a leak and exit through it. Helium is non-toxic, inexpensive, and readily available. |
