SUBSEA MARINE FOULING THICKNESS GAUGE

ACFM Thickness Gauge picture

TSC’s new marine fouling thickness gauge is available for deployment by Diver or ROV and is capable of making fouling thickness measurements in the range 0-350 mm. The system uses TSC’s novel ACFM lift-off sensors to determine the distance between the face of the probe and the structure, and is fully compatible with TSC’s Model U21 ACFM Crack Microgauge. All data is presented and recorded on the surface, thereby requiring no special diver skills for deployment. By allowing spot measurements of marine fouling thickness, marine growth profiles can be produced to provide detailed information of the fouling distribution around a member.

The system has been successfully deployed by workclass ROV to provide diverless marine fouling surveys. Unlike calliper or circumferential measurements, the system avoids the difficulties associated with non-uniform marine growth and allows fouling removal to be planned with a knowledge of the actual fouling profiles around the member, rather than readings averaged around the circumference.
