Optimization technology, such as increased light stability for irradiating light, pulse width and pulse rate, has been used extensively in Nisshinbo Mechatronics' solar simulator. Accurate measurement of photovoltaic modules of varied performance

Modules moving down the production line of varied performances can be accurately measured by using a pre-flash measurement technology.

Photovoltaic modules are manufactured with the receptor surface facing down, and the modules are generally turned over for measurement. We made improvements to our solar simulator, and measurement is now possible with the receptor surface of the photovoltaic cell remaining face down. Eliminating the need to reverse the modules well facilitates in-line operation, making it perfect for mass production.

Features

Measures the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of photovoltaic modules using pulsed emissions from xenon lamp

Pulsed light are used, so that the temperature of the photovoltaic module hardly increases, in contrast to continuous light method, allowing stable measurements. Nisshinbo's original illumination control circuit is used to achieve within ±0.2% of the temporal instability of irradiance, which substantially exceeds even grade A.

  • Achieves high-speed measurements in which the charge duration is about 15 seconds per module.
  • Any lack of uniformity in irradiance is adjusted by mounting a masking plate within the frame. The masking plate can be taken in and out from the frame, and reduces the adjustment load.
  • Mounting shielding plates with different opening rates enables fine-tuning, achieving within 2% of irradiance non-uniformity.
  • Measurement results are immediately shown on the PC screen, and can be printed from a printer at once.
  • Lamp life is longer than that for steady-state solar simulators, while the power demands are lower.
  • Devoid of complicated optical system ensures a simple and compact structure.
